Wellness & Vaccinations

Wellness visits provide us with the opportunity to protect your pet against many dangers and risks.

Keep Them Happy and Well for as Many Years as Possible.

Animals can’t manage their own health, so it’s up to us – as pet parents and veterinary professionals – to help ensure that they receive the ongoing, quality care that they deserve throughout their lives. Wellness care is one of the most important components of your pet’s overall health plan because it allows us to take a proactive approach to keeping them happy and well for as many years as possible. Raintree Pet Resort + Medical Center offers comprehensive wellness care for animals of all species, breeds and ages.

Why Wellness Care?

Many pet parents make the mistake of thinking that trips to the vet are only necessary when their companion is sick or has been injured in some way. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, in many cases, a pet that appears to be perfectly healthy may actually be experiencing medical problems that are not yet exhibiting symptoms. When we are able to examine your loved one on a regular basis, we can identify these potential concerns and address them right away, before they have a chance to develop further. This can add years to your pet’s life, and also save you money over time.

Annual or semi-annual wellness visits also provide us with the opportunity to protect your pet against many of the dangers and risks he or she will encounter over the years. Proactive measures such as vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition and weight management can help to keep your loved one happy, healthy and fit and ward off illness and injury as a result. The more we stay on top of your pet’s health, the better the chances of a long, fulfilling life.

What does Wellness Care involve?

A wellness visit for your pet is very similar to what you might experience visiting your own doctor for a routine checkup. The doctor will conduct a thorough physical exam, checking your pet’s entire body to make sure that everything is functioning just as it should be. We will measure your pet’s weight and we may also recommend a few routine diagnostic tests, such as blood work, to help us further evaluate your loved one’s health status.

Vaccinations are also a critical component of our wellness care, because they help prevent a wide variety of illnesses and diseases, some of which can be life threatening. At Raintree Pet Resort + Medical Center, we use the vaccination guidelines provided by the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), as well as those that are appropriate for your pet’s unique risk factors:

Canine Vaccinations

  • Rabies virus
  • Canine Distemper Virus (DA2PP combo)
  • Canine Parvovirus (DA2PP combo)
  • Canine Adenovirus (DA2PP combo)
  • Canine Bordetella
  • Canine Leptospirosis
  • Rattlesnake vaccine

Feline Vaccinations

  • Rabies virus
  • Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVRCP combo)
  • Calicivirus (FVRCP combo)
  • Panleukopenia (FVRCP combo)
  • Feline Leukemia Virus

Other Preventative Care

In addition to our routine exams and customized vaccination plans, our wellness care may also include a number of other preventative care services, depending on your pet’s individual needs and risk factors. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Microchipping
  • Heartworm testing and prevention
  • Parasite screening and prevention
  • Wellness exams for all life stages
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Behavioral counseling

Getting to Know One Another

Lastly, although equally as important, routine wellness visits allow all of us at Raintree Pet Resort + Medical Center to get to know you and your pet on a more personal level. We believe that the more we come to know you and understand your companion’s specific health care needs, the better service we will be able to provide throughout his or her lifetime. As an added bonus, when your pet comes in on a regular basis, the entire experience becomes much less stressful for everyone.

Through comprehensive physical exams, customized vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition and weight management and more, we’re prepared to give your loved one the best chance at enjoying a lifetime of good health. Don’t wait until your pet is sick or injured to make an appointment. Join with us in helping your pet achieve and maintain optimum health, year after year.
