Holiday Gifts for Dogs

Have you finished up your holiday shopping yet? It isn’t always easy picking out the perfect gifts for your loved ones. We may not be much help with choosing presents for your in-laws, but we can offer some suggestions on what to get your furry best friend. Read on as a Scottsdale, AZ vet lists some great gift ideas for Fido.

Bed

A comfy doggy bed is one of life’s greatest luxuries as far as Fido is concerned. If your canine buddy is a large breed or a senior, get him an orthopedic bed. The extra support will help him sleep more comfortably.

Dishware

Many dogs are more comfortable eating from raised doggy dishes than from bowls on the floor. Why not get your pooch some new dinnerware?

Toys

Toys are always a great doggy gift. Pick up a few new playthings for your pup. This is also a good time to discretely discard some of your furry pal’s older toys. You can also get Fido some chew toys. Just be careful with rawhide chews, as they can be hazardous. Ask your vet for more information.

Mechanical Ball Launcher

Is chasing tennis balls is Fido’s favorite thing ever? Get him a mechanical ball launcher! (Note: we don’t recommend these for giant dogs, as they can choke on the tennis balls these devices use.)

Treats!

Nothing gets that furry tail going like the thought of a yummy treat! Doggy biscuits are always a good option. If you enjoy cooking, you can even make your pup’s snacks. Just be sure to use only ingredients that are safe for Fido.

Dental Products

Taking care of your canine friend’s teeth is very important! Pick up some dental-formula treats or chews for your pet. You can also get an oral rinse to add to his water.

Water Bottle

Do you like to go hiking with your pooch? A doggy water bottle with an attached bowl is a great thing to take with you. This would also be handy to have just for walking Fido on hot days.

Paw Care Products

Fido’s paws play a huge role in his overall health and well-being. If you cut your dog’s nails yourself, consider getting clippers equipped with sensors. Paw balm or wax is also a good gift.
